My name is Shannon Hybl and I am the FCA Newport/Mesa Representative! I grew up in Huntington Beach, where I attended Huntington Beach High School. At Huntington, I played varsity volleyball, water polo and swim. I then went on to play collegiate water polo at USC. After one year, I felt called out of water polo and returned to my first love: beach volleyball! I graduated from USC a year ago and I went straight into the business world as a Human Resource Manager for the Target store in Compton. My experience was incredible, but I had no desire to pursue a career in HR or Target. After much prayer, I decided to pursue my desire to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. I applied to Vanguard's Masters Program in Clinical Psychology and got in for the fall! Praise Jesus! When I found out, I prayed for a part time job that would align well with my passions. That week, I went to FCA's Night of Champions and as I was there my passion for mentoring, Jesus, sports, and kids ignited a desire in me to become a part of FCA. I ended up talking to my friend Marina Mayer about how I wanted to work for FCA, and she said, "Well, that's funny because I'm looking for someone to take my place!" This job fell into my lap, and I can't help but think that God has me here for a reason! I am excited to take this leap of faith and see how God moves in and through the students of FCA!
